The Story:

"The Crusader" is the story of Paul Weebler, a simple man trying to change the world. Documentarian Jonathan Ashton III discovered Paul by chance and decided to find out why this seemingly normal man decided to devote his life to what most would consider a trivial cause.

The Web Series:

I'm a big fan of The Office (British & American) and movies like Best in Show. I like the mockumentary format and wanted to give it a try and The Crusader is the result. If I had to state the underlying theme it would be, "stupid people don't know they're stupid, which makes it hard to help them sometimes."

Doing it as a web series was inspired largely by Felicia Day's web series, The Guild. I won a half-hour web chat with Felicia Day in a charity auction (see it here) and her advice was invaluable. Thanks, Felicia!

We've been very lucky in getting some great actors involved -- both local talent and some name Hollywood actors.

We shot everything (so far) in the San Diego area. Thanks also go to the San Diego Film Commission for making our lives easy by getting us permission to use our chosen location.

There will be a total of eight episodes in the first season.
